B.Sc or B.Tech?

Bachelor of Technology is an undergraduate academic degree conferred after completion of a three or four year program of studies at an accredited university or accredited university-level institution. The common abbreviation for Bachelor of Technology is B.Tech. The degree is conferred in the Commonwealth of Nations, Republic of Ireland, India, the United States and elsewhere.

  In India, the Bachelor of Technology degree is conferred by the nation’s top ranked government universities of technology like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) as well as a host of other prestigious institutes (both public and privately funded ) like Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU, Delhi), Mumbai University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT, Matunga, Mumbai), College of Engineering, Pune (COEP), Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI, Matunga, Mumbai), Vardhaman Engineering College(HYDERABAD), Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT, Gandhinagar, India) for their professional engineering programs. However most other institutions in India use the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree and some of them are in the process of replacing over to the B.Tech programme.

A Bachelor of Science (B.S., B.Sc. or BSc in the UK; less commonly, S.B., B.S.c. or Sc.B. from the Latin Scientiæ Baccalaureus) is an undergraduate academic degree awarded for completed courses that generally last three to five years.

Commonly in the Commonwealth and Ireland graduands are admitted to the degree of Bachelor of Science after having completed a programme in one or more of the sciences. These programmes may take different lengths of time to complete.

A Bachelor of Science receives the designation B.Sc. or B.S. for a major/pass degree and B.Sc. (Hons) or B.S. (Hons) for an honours degree.

Whish is better bsc biotech or btech biotech and which has better job oppurtunities?

B.Tech biotechnology is more better than B.Sc biotechnology.Because both are bachelor courses but if u go for opportunities B.Tech has preference.So,If u don’t go with degree means B.Sc.In degree u have theory and less practical But with B.Tech u will have more practical and theory.And u may have confusion with B.Sc(Biotechnology) is not a single course.It has multiple subjects so choosing a course is tidy for you.So better go with B.Tech than B.Sc

Both are two different things. Bsc Biotec is degree cource and BTec biotec is eng. (4 yrs)
If you want to do BSc Biotec you need to again give an entrance test after completion of BSc for MSc and a then do Phd. Its lenghty but a good course.
If you have dedication, good family support then you can try for Bsc Biotec.
Gen. Btec biotec are taken by student who want to complete their eng course and do MBA and get a job.
However both are good and there is good opportunity in both the cases.
India is far behind , you need to do a very hard work through out if you have that dedication pl proceed.

i think btech is better than bsc.if u preafer teaching line than bsc honers is good.becoz by that u get specialised in a perticular stream.ND if u r not interested in teaching line than btech is good.In private companies demand of btech is quiet in as compared to bsc.By doing mba after that one can very nicely settle him/herself .well one can do mtech if he/she want to b a lecturrer.

VIT counselling procedure

VIT counselling procedure

The Vellore Institute of Technology – Beautiful campus, well-equiped classrooms and laboratories, large cafeterias, shopping areas, glossy brochures – very rude,unhelpful people- the place stunk of lavishness, including the students. We paid Rs30,000 just to attend the counselling. That was more than the entire admission fees and semester fees I paid at NITW ( Rs 27,000 app.). And this amount was forfeited, unlike in the IITs where counselling fees are returned if a student does not take admission in the IIT.

There were several hotels some distance from the campus,several eateries on and around the campus.

The counselling procedure consists of dozens of steps and procedures that included a medical check-up where we were made to do everything from getting ourselves weighed, height, vision checked, gulping down de-worming tablets, getting a picture clicked to allowing the nurses to inject needles into our arm to draw blood samples and peeing on strips of paper for god-only-knows-what purpose! A bus outside the medical centre gave prospective students and parents a tour of the campus of the classrooms,libraries etc.

It invoved a lot of moving around , the usual verification,visiting the photocopier shops, until finally we were allowed into the computer room, to select our choice of branch.Thankfully they had provided us with a flier listing the various steps. We had to follow the line according to roll no order as we were led around.And just when we seemed to be at the end of our ordeal they declared the lunch break from about 1-2.30 or 2-2.30 ,I can’t remember.

There were about 5000 seats available I think but only about 60% of these got filled up at the end of the 1st round of counselling ,till VITEEE AIR of 6000. Hence invariably the next set of students, of AIR more than 6000 are given calls to come for counsellling.Courses like Bioinformatics, Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering seats though, get alloted to students almost immediately, on the first day of counselling itself.After these the computer sciences, electrical, chemical branche allotments drag on for days.I found out from some friend that even up to AIR 26,000 had got a seat in VIT.

The procedure after lunch was pretty straightforward and finally we could go back to our hotel.

Procedure for AIEEE counselling.. Good College vs Favourite Stream

With soooo many colleges..sooo many branches…and your career at stake, counselling can get quite confusing.. I know a few friends who made an ill-informed decision regarding their choice of college and are now cribbing and crying at their fate.

A good college will get you the best placement available to a student of your capabilities. Or if you’re planning on further studies, IITs , BITs and NITs are the few Indian universities that are well-known abroad , which will make it easier for you to get accepted in an esteemed institute or obtain that wonderful scholarship.

Hence I couldn’t overemphasise how necessary it is that a student is aware of which college, which stream , in which part of the India you will be interested in..especially the girls.

In my case, my parents told me at the last minute ,the day before I was to fill my AIEEE college choices, that I shouldn’t opt for NIT jaipur or calicut or kurukshetra..They were worried about my safety in the north , these places were too far away from my home in Pune. Luckily I got the branch of my choice (Biotechnology)in a good NIT (warangal)+ my parents were happy too cause I have relatives in Secunderabad,which is 2 hours from Warangal. My AIR was 10,068.

It is very necessary that you keep your options flexible…

Make a list of minimum 20 options – in order of priority .

Your columns should be 1)College

2)Stream you are interested in,in that college

3)Which part of india the college is in

Ofcourse , choosing a good college should be your priority..

But suppose you clear JEE, don’t know how to draw yet take Naval architecture ,because thats the only option available to you in IIT , while you could get EEE(assume you’re interested in this ) in NIT warangal, I’d say you’re doomed. You’l strugle with your academics all the time, you’l get the lowest CGPA( cause you’l be one of the highest ranks in IIT), you won’t be happy ..

Now if you’d taken EEE, you’d do well academically, have loads of free time for other hobbies and personality development(important too) ,you’d be happy . Like ‘The Alchemist’ emphasised – Our personal calling in that which “fills us with enthusiasm”.. You cannot achieve success in that which you donot put your heart and soul into, or by forcing yourself to do it when you don’t want to . The best part is that there is high probability that you’l get ECE(which has more market value as of now) after the sliding procedure.

Especially since this recession has increased the importance of a student knowing his/her subject matter well .Until last year student from all possible branches got sucked into the IT industry for obscenely inflated salaries. But not anymore cause the IT industry is down, its stagnating..Biotechnology is the future 🙂

But as I said earlier a good college is of utmost importance too. The best companies (ie the ones that are still recruiting) the best jobs will come only to the best colleges.

K.. I guess you’re a lil confused, think over it, what are these 2 months holidays for anyway?
